Storytelling

The act of telling a compelling story isn’t just for screenwriters, it’s what we do every day in the professional sphere. Pitching to a prospective client is storytelling. Writing marketing copy is storytelling. Giving a report at your office’s weekly meeting is storytelling. Storytelling is an innate human characteristic. In this class we don’t teach people how to be storytellers, we reconnect them with the storytelling impulses they’ve had since childhood.

We present the universal elements of storytelling while leading your team through a fun and accessible series of games designed to reconnect working professionals with their inner storyteller. We impart no-nonsense techniques for connecting their stories with their intended audience, and we have more than a few laughs along the way.

LEADING CHANGE WITH A GROWTH MINDSET

Change, even when it’s intended to lead to positive outcomes, isn’t always easy to manage. It’s the movement from one state of affairs to another, and that transition often comes with uncertainty. When people don’t understand why a change is happening, how they’ll be affected, or what comes next, that uncertainty can create stress, resistance, and tension if it isn’t managed thoughtfully.

Understanding some of the fundamentals of change management, alongside our own mindsets and tendencies when responding to change, can help us better support ourselves and our teammates through that uncertainty. This means understanding not only what is changing, but how organizations move from a current state, through a transition state, toward a desired future state, and what needs to happen on both the technical and people sides to support successful adoption.

This course introduces foundational approaches to organizational change alongside Growth Mindset, drawing primarily on the research of Blackwell, Trzesniewski and Dweck (2007). Together, these ideas provide practical ways to understand how people experience change, why resistance can occur, and how learning, reflection, feedback, and adaptability can help us navigate new ways of working with greater confidence.
